A programme of rare Debussy music for voice, dancer, piano
solo and duet, with Jenny Miller (soprano) and Chiara Vinci
(dancer & choreographer)

This collaboration between a dancer and a classically trained
singer, seeks to blur the boundaries between the two disciplines.

The piece includes:
Prelude: Danseuses de Delphes
Fetes Galantes (Book 2)
Et la lune descend sur le temple qui fut
Chansons de Bilitis
Epigraphes antiques
L’Isle Joyeuse

During this performance, Chiara drops into naturalistic movement and psychologically motivated responses, while Jenny moves into a more abstract movement quality, with intentions that are as related to form as they are to psychological motivation.

Chiara moves in Jenny’s song cycles as a dancer moving into ‘straight’ acting, and Jenny moves in Chiara’s dance pieces as an actress moving into dance.  This sharing of skills is part of the overall motivation of Dances Oracles Mystery.
